Zinc dust is a fine type of powder made from zinc that is very essential for various industrial applications such as coatings, batteries, and corrosion protection. But there are different grades of this material which then would determine and influence the zinc dust price.

Standard Grade

The most basic grade of zinc dust which is the cheapest is called the standard grade which is produced through a quite simple and straightforward process which is grinding zinc metal until they get fine powder. But because of the simple process, it also has the lowest level of purity and still contains a small amount of impurities from the process.

The standard grade is widely used for galvanizing, a process where corrosion resistance is required, but high purity is not critical. Zinc dust standard grade is commonly used for the production of primers, coatings and paints.

Special Grade

One level above the standard grade is the special grade. This grade is produced through more refined processes which would ensure higher purity level. This grade of zinc dust is typically used for more durable coatings such as battery anodes or other specific chemical processes. This why the zinc dust price of this grade is more expensive than the standard grade,

High Purity Grade

The next level of zinc dust is the high purity grade which is produced from high grade zinc material which then would undergo further processes of refinement in order to remove impurities. Because of this more thorough process, the result would be zinc dust with 99% purity or even higher.

This grade of zinc dust would be more expensive than the special grade, and usually used in specialized applications such as production of certain batteries, high performance coatings, cosmetics and even pharmaceuticals.

Electrolytic Grade

The highest grade of zinc dust is the electrolytic grade which is also the most expensive one. This zinc dust is made from zinc that has been obtained from a special process called electrolytic refining process which would ensure an ultra-pure product.

The electrolytic grade would have the highest zinc dust price because it was produced by a very sophisticated process which is very energy-intensive. The electrolytic grade usually used in applications where high performance and high precision are essential and even critical such as medical or aerospace. It also important for making specialized batteries requiring the best corrosion resistance.
